Georgia doesn't offer CDL skills testing at every DDS office — only 11 specific designated locations statewide, and one of them (Cumming) has a real restriction most guides don't mention. Here's exactly where to test, the real scheduling rules, and what happens if you need to cancel or retest.

The Cumming Restriction
If you're testing for a Class A CDL, Cumming is not an option. The Cumming DDS Customer Service Center offers Class B skills testing only — Class A applicants must choose a different designated location, such as Gainesville, Dalton, or Rome, all reasonably close by in North Georgia.

Cancellation and Rescheduling
You must give at least 72 hours notice to cancel or reschedule. Missing this window forfeits your $50 fee entirely, and a new $50 fee is required to book another appointment — there's no partial credit or automatic rollover.
Retest Policy After a Failed Skills Test
Georgia's CDL retesting policy requires a minimum 2-day wait before attempting the skills test again — different from the general non-commercial retest policy (1-day wait after a first failure, 7 days after a second). Each retest requires its own $50 fee and a new appointment.
No Virtual Option for CDL Testing
Georgia's Virtual Road Test (VRT) — available for some non-commercial road tests via remote camera — does not apply to CDL skills testing. All CDL skills tests are conducted in person, with an examiner physically in the vehicle for the full 3-part test.
