Utah DLD requires original or certified copy documents — photocopies are not accepted for identity, residency, or lawful presence documentation. This catches out-of-state transplants especially, since some other states are more lenient about accepting copies.

Registration and insurance are verified before testing begins. Bring these regardless of whether you're testing at a DLD office or one of Utah's many third-party testers across the state.
Your Test Vehicle
You must bring your own registered, road-ready vehicle appropriate for the CDL class you're testing for. This applies regardless of testing location — neither the DLD nor third-party testers provide a vehicle.
The Medical Certificate
You generally don't need to bring a paper medical certificate — your examiner submits it electronically. Still, confirming with DLD Customer Service (801-965-4437) that it's on your record is a reasonable precaution, especially close to a deadline.
